Privacy Policy
This policy explains what DemoSnitch (“we”, “the Service”) collects, why, and what rights you have. DemoSnitch is a browser extension and web service that helps FACEIT players document toxic voice chat in CS2 matches. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with FACEIT or Valve.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is DemoSnitch, Poland. Contact: hello@demosnitch.com. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy (Link, LLC, USA) as the merchant of record, which is an independent controller for payment data.
2. What we process and why
2.1 Your account
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Steam ID (64-bit) and Steam display name | Sign-in through Steam, showing your account in the extension | Contract (providing the Service) |
| Credit balance and transaction history | Metering reports, refunds, purchase records | Contract; legal obligation (accounting) |
| Reports you submit (match ID, reported player, status, timestamps) | Running the analysis and showing your case history | Contract |
| Technical logs (IP address, request metadata, errors) | Security, abuse prevention, debugging; kept up to 30 days | Legitimate interest |
We never see your FACEIT or Steam password. Sign-in uses Steam OpenID; we receive only your public Steam ID.
2.2 Match demos and the reported player’s voice
When you submit a report, we download the official match demo published by FACEIT for that match. From it we extract the voice chat of the player you reported, transcribe it, classify it for insults, slurs and threats, and render short video clips of the flagged moments with English subtitles.
This involves processing personal data of a third party (the reported player’s voice and in-game nickname). We do this on the basis of legitimate interest: documenting harassment that occurred in a public match, from a recording FACEIT already makes available to every participant, for the sole purpose of a report to the platform. We limit processing to what that purpose requires: only the reported player’s voice, only the flagged moments, only for the retention period below.
Transcription and classification are performed by AI service providers acting as our processors (see section 4). Audio is sent for transcription only; it is not used to train their models under our agreements.
2.3 Evidence videos
Rendered clips are stored in our object storage and additionally published as unlisted videos on a hosting provider so that FACEIT support can open them. Unlisted means the video is reachable only by someone who has the link. We do not list, index or promote evidence videos.
3. Retention
- Evidence videos: deleted 90 days after creation, from our storage and from the hosting provider.
- Downloaded demos and extracted audio: deleted within 48 hours of the analysis finishing; they are working copies only.
- Transcripts: only the flagged lines are kept, as part of the report metadata, for as long as the report exists.
- Account, reports and transactions: for as long as your account exists, plus what accounting law requires for purchase records.
4. Processors and recipients
We use the following providers to run the Service. Each processes data on our instructions:
- Hosting (EU): our API and worker servers.
- Cloudflare R2: object storage for demos and evidence videos.
- Streamable: unlisted hosting of evidence videos.
- Groq: speech-to-text transcription of extracted voice audio.
- Anthropic: text classification and English translation of transcripts.
- DemoSlap: rendering of in-game footage from the demo.
- Lemon Squeezy: payments. We never store card details; Lemon Squeezy is an independent controller for payment data.
Some providers are located outside the EEA. Where that is the case, transfers rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
We do not sell personal data and do not share it with advertisers. We disclose data only to the providers above, or where required by law.
5. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on it. Write to hello@demosnitch.com from the email you want us to reply to; we may ask you to prove control of the Steam account. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you were reported
If you believe a DemoSnitch evidence video concerns you and was created without a legitimate basis, contact us with the video link. We will review it and, where justified, remove it ahead of the normal retention period.
6. Cookies and local storage
The extension stores your sign-in token and settings in the browser’s extension storage. This website uses no tracking cookies and no analytics that identify you.
7. Children
The Service is intended for users who meet FACEIT’s minimum age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
8. Changes
We will post changes on this page with a new “last updated” date. Material changes affecting how we process data will be announced in the extension.
